Many Dyson vacuums come with a clutch mechanism. This allows you to engage and disengage the brush roll from the motor. You will find the clutch mechanism inside the housing. There should be 2 belts inside- 1 smaller belt hooked over the motor, and 1 larger hooked over the brush roll. The smaller clutch belt is easy replaceable if snapped, however if the larger belt has snapped, you will need to replace the entire clutch. The process is relatively simple and can save you a lot of money.

This is a genuine spare part and is supplied with both belts for easier fitment.
